In temperate zones, the Hibiscus syriacus species is probably the most commonly grown Hibiscus. It is the common garden Hibiscus that also goes by the names "Rose of Althea" or "Rose of Sharon" (not to be confused with other plants that also go by Rose of Sharon).
Hot summer days at the beach are a great time for the Hibiscus to show off its attractive white, pink, red, lavender or purple edible flowers.
